Protecting Your Profits

March 26th, 2007 by Larry Lang

Making money online can be a competitive and cutthroat process. Confusion over today’s technology has led to many people giving up long before they even get started. Is my money safe? How do I keep competitors from stealing my customers?

Don’t miss out on making the money you’ve been dreaming about! This confusion is understandable, but also easily cleared up. By taking a few simple steps that almost anybody can master, you can protect your profits and safely grow your online business.

Your Online Business Is Not An Open Book

* Keep any and all mentions of your competition out of your customers’ sight.
* Never give out information without first making sure that it doesn’t contain outside links.
* Resellers: make sure that no references to your product’s origins remain.

The Internet is an information free-for-all. However, that doesn’t mean you should share your secrets with the world, too.

The best way to protect your profits is to use a bit of common sense. You should never so much as mention your competition to your visitors. Above all else, you should never provide potential customers with any way to purchase your product elsewhere.

Consider it your job to protect your customers from everyone else in your industry. Ideally, they should find your product, learn about it, and purchase it without ever looking elsewhere.

Go through all of your promotional materials, your website, and even every inch of your very product. Are there any references that could lead a reader astray? If you are re-selling a product, is there any way to find the original creator from your site?

Bonus reports and third-party newsletters are easy places for your competition to lure your audience away. Never promote any information that you have not read through completely—twice. Don’t just look for links. A casually mentioned competing product name could stick in readers’ minds and send them looking elsewhere when they’re ready to buy—when they really came back looking for you!

Technologies That Protect

* A secure payment processor keeps you and your customers safe.
* Link cloaking programs prevent the competition from moving in on your audience.
* Protecting your profits means you see 100% of the money you earned!

The biggest worries over protecting profits involve the actual sales process. Luckily, there are many tools available to keep transactions secured—and to make sure only you profit from your audience.

When choosing which payment methods to accept for your products, research your options carefully. Any payment processing service you use must provide a secure checkout. This is signified by the appearance of a small lock in the bottom of the browser window. Also, a secure transaction will always take place at a website with an address beginning with “https://” instead of just “http://.” Popular services like PayPal provide this level of protection.

If you’re making money through an affiliate program, signup for a free or low-cost link “cloaking” service. This service hides your actual affiliate website address from visitors, but still takes them to your site. If your actual address is exposed, certain savvy customers can replace your affiliate information with their own—and actually profit from your work! A link cloaking program will ensure that you get credit for each and every sale you earned.

Protecting your profits is crucial when it comes to making money online. However, it’s not as hard as many people think to keep your money—and your product—safe. In fact, by keeping just these few points in mind, your business can operate at maximum profitability. Soon, you’ll have enough money to hire someone to teach you how to create these technologies yourself!

Active Rollover Button

March 14th, 2007 by Larry Lang

This is an example of a Rollover Submit Button that can be used on a squeeze page. It is fully configurable by making some simple changes to the html code. Complete instructions on what to change and where to change are below.

Rollover Button

Instructions

Line 1 starts the table for the button and includes what is called “cellpadding”. The number after “cellpadding” and inside the quotes (“ ”) can be changed to make the border, or in this case the red part, wider or narrower.

Line 2 aligns the button on the page. If the button should be on the left or right side of the page rather than the center, replace the word “center” with the respective side.

Line 3 is used for W3C compliancy, as well as being a descriptor for the table. You may change the description to anything that is meaningful to you. Again, only replace the words in between the quotes (“ ”) which, in this example, is “website submit button.”

Line 4 is the color of the button when the mouse button is pressed while over the button. This color is in a hex format. When using hex format, always have the # sign in front of the hex color code.

Line 5 is the color of the button when the mouse is moved over it. This color is in a hex format. When using hex format, always have the # sign in front of the hex color code.

Line 6 shows what color the button will be after the mouse has been moved across it. As in the line above, this hex number is a color of your choosing.

Line 7 is the line that gives the button its color before the mouse is moved over it. This is the color that your customer will see when they first look at the button. Again, this is a hex number for the color you choose. Note: Once you have moved the mouse over the button, this color changes to the color you selected in Line 5.

Line 8 is the start of the button itself, beginning with the text and style. It defines what the cursor does when the mouse moves over it, the font, size of the font, color of the font, and the background color of the center of the button.

Note also in Line 8 the words ’style=”cursor:pointer;’will change the cursor to a pointer (the little finger-pointing hand) whenever the mouse is moved over the button.

Line 9 describes the font;

Line 10 the font size;

Line 11 the weight of the font, which is set to normal (another option is bold);

Line 12 is the color of the font; and

Line 13 is the color of the background in the center of the button.

Line 14 sets the size of the button. If you change 375px to a larger number, the button becomes wider. Change 375px to a smaller number and the button becomes narrower.

Line 15 defines what the button is to do when it is clicked on. In this case, we want it to submit the information that your customer has entered into the form.

On Line 16 enter the text to be displayed in the button.

To use this button, copy and paste the code below to wherever you would like the button to appear on the the web page.

<table cellpadding="12"
align="center"
summary="website submit button">
<tr onmousedown="this.style.backgroundColor='#009900'"
onmouseover="this.style.backgroundColor='#00ff00'"
onmouseout="this.style.backgroundColor='#CC3333'"
bgcolor="#CC3333">
<td><input style="cursor:pointer;
font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
font-size: 12pt;
font-weight: normal;
color: #000000;
background-color: #ffffff;
width: 375px;"
type="submit"
value="Click Here For Your FREE Report!" /></td>
</tr>
</table>

After hightlighting the code, copy and paste it into your webpage. Since this button works with a form you can also use it for a sales button by adding just a little bit more code to it.

<form action=”http://www.your sales link goes here”
method=”post”
name=”button”>
Insert the above button code here
</form>

Finding What Works

March 7th, 2007 by Larry Lang

Everyone wants to avoid mistakes. When it comes to making money online, avoiding mistakes is even more important. After all, you want to hit the ground running—and start making money online as quickly as possible!

A few simple strategies make all the difference. You need to find what works—fast—and we’re going to give you a head-start with the following tried-and-true advice.

Dream Big, But Start Small

  • Sell only one product in the beginning—but still turn a profit!
  • Experiment! Find what works best in order to make money online with it.
  • After you find what works, gradually introduce new products.

One of the easiest ways to avoid mistakes when making money online is to focus your resources. Wait before spending much money and time until you first determine what works best. Then, devote yourself only to methods that bring in the most profits!

Successfully making money online does not require very much time or money—especially not in the beginning. Avoid mistakes and frustrations by starting small.

Instead of opening a huge store with 200 products, start with one or two individual items. A small inventory allows you find what works and what doesn’t without wasting your energy. It’s easy to tinker with plans for one item. It’s much harder to revamp a strategy for 200 items.

Don’t Give Up

  • You cannot avoid mistakes forever.
  • Giving up means giving away your money!
  • Learn from your errors—they will get you to your goal even faster.

When it comes to making money online, almost no is able to avoid mistakes completely.

If you trip up a few times as you start making money online, don’t despair. Instead, look at your trip ups as opportunities. Reviewing what didn’t work will help you to find what works faster than you would have otherwise.

Nobody can completely avoid mistakes forever. That’s why it’s so important to be able to learn and grow from each one. If you don’t, you’re just using your mistakes as excuses to throw in the towel long before you even begin making money online. Don’t give up—take action!

Don’t Reinvent the Wheel

  • You don’t have to actually make a mistake in order to learn from it.
  • Get your hands on advice from those who have come before you.
  • Use their experience to jump-start your own success.
  • Remember that you get what you pay for: free advice can only help so much.

The best way to avoid mistakes is to learn about the mistakes someone else already made. Then, do your best not to repeat what they did.

Similarly, the best way to find what works best for making money online is to find what works (and what doesn’t work) for other people.

Many resources are available to provide advice about how to find what works and avoid mistakes. In terms of making money online, these resources cover with a wide variety of products spanning nearly every imaginable category.

Avoid mistakes in your research by remembering that you get what you pay for. You have important information to share through your products, and you’re not giving it away for free. Do not expect someone else to share their real secrets without anything in return.

No matter what you’re selling, someone out there has something valuable to share with you. If you’re not learning from them, you’re wasting your time. Who knows? Maybe your experience will take you one step farther, and you can share your own advice later on.

Take things one day at a time. Be persistent. And above all, don’t make the same mistakes someone else made. If you incorporate just these three principles into your sales approach, you will close more sales and make more money than you ever thought possible—faster than you ever expected!
